In the zone

I was in the knitting zone this weekend... ok, really I was recovering from the sangria I enjoyed the night before, but anyway... and I really made progress on Tempting. I now have both sleeves attached and am in the home stretch!

It feels great to actually be finishing a big project. I am such a promiscuous knitter... it doesn't take much to woo me away from the current project. But Tempting is in sight, and I can't wait to try it on!

Instant gratification

I like remote controls. Drive-throughs are great, too. But there is nothing better than an instant gratification knitting project.

With a self-imposed deadline, I whipped up these little beauties in two short evenings. The booties are purple and white so as to instill some early Horned Frog pride in my friend's future TCU student. The pattern is a very simple garter stitch from the Knit 365 Days calendar a friend bought me for Christmas. You basically knit a T shape and then sew them up. Easy as pie!

I also started working on Tempting from Knitty. The rib pattern is a little boring, but at least I can enjoy a glass or two of wine while I knit. So far I have 5 inches. The Boy is actually excited about this project. He thinks it's a very feminine design and loves the light blue I picked out. He's pretty sweet to take an interest in my hobby, but I think that also obligates me to care about motorcycles... its a tangled web we weave.

The Feather and Fans lace scarf has been pushed aside for unkown reasons. I intend to take it out tonight and keep working.

Loving deadline pressure

The problem with my knitting is that I often times get distracted before I get the sweet satisfaction of completion. The solution? Deadlines!

I just learned two of my co-workers are visiting the office I came from in Texas at the end of the week. They will be meeting with my good friend who is 8 months pregnant. Since I can't be at any of the baby showers or celebrations, I am going to send my gift of knitted booties to her through my new colleague. One problem... they aren't done yet. So, I now have less than 48 hours to get them whipped up.

I always did work better under deadline pressure....

My First Blog!

My first blog! I'm a little befuddled by this blogging phenomenon, especially as a trained journalist, but I think it's time to give it a try.

I have just rejuvenated my knitting habit, thanks to a couple visits with the DC S-n-Bers.

Current project: Feather and Fan lace shawl (thanks to a gorgeous yarn swap goodie from seal daze). Photo will be up soon.
